Description
African udu from Nigeria and Ghana nice resonate bass tones two types; ceramic & metal chose size and type A truly gigantic, room-shaking sub-bass tone is produced from this traditional Igbo pot drum, which is played with a soft sponge paddle (included). It can produce an open note, a half note and a muted note. The smaller sizes also have a side hole(optional). Because the body is metal and not the original clay construction, you can also strike the body with any hard object to produce a range of different metallic sounds. The weight of largest size is only approx 5kg! Essentially a large jug, sometimes called a pot drum, the udu produces resonant bass tones. Two types available, ceramic udu from Ghana (glazed and unglazed) and metal type from Nigeria. The ceramic type have two openings and mostly played with both hands to obtain a variety of sounds. The metal type have one opening and played with a foam paddle for driving bass rhythm.
